Steam Gallopers

No fair is complete without a set of Galloping Horses, colloquially known as a carousel. We are pleased to be one of only a few establishments in the world who own and operate steam-powered Galloping Horses in tribute to keeping the soul of a bygone era alive.

The ride spent many years entertaining visitors to Walton-on-the-Naze Pier, this was followed by few years at an indoor attraction in Great Yarmouth. Built by Savages of Kings Lynn, this historic ride joined us in 2015. Since then an extensive restoration programme has brought it up to ‘our standard’.

Rides

Rides

Our rides are each all over 100 years old, extensively maintained and painted by hand to produce an authentic true-to-life experience of those from the turn of the 20th century. They're a unique example of the craftsmanship of the era and a true testament to the staying power of the simple pleasures that only an authentic fair can produce.

Organs

We operate three original mechanical organs as part of our fair. Both the 89 key Gavioli and 61 key Verbeeck are used as the centrepieces of our galloper rides, so are therefore rarely available separately.
However, we can offer with the help of our contacts, fairground organs ranging in size from our own 37 key Verbeeck organ (details below) right up to a very large and powerful 98 key instrument.

Stalls

Stalls

The classic fairground round stall has been a common site on fairgrounds since the early part of the 20th century.
Chamfered timber ‘uprights’ are joined by curved panels known as ‘shutters’. All the parts are hand painted in the finest traditions of the fairground. A canvas ‘roof’ keeps both the game and players dry in the event of inclement weather.
